Rajasthani Bhasha Academy is pleased to announce its Third Edition of the Summer School in collaboration with Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation and South Asia Institute, University of Texas at Austin, from 16th to 22nd July 2025.
This week-long summer school will take place at the historical City Palace Museum of Udaipur with scholars including Prof. Ashwini Deo (University of Texas, Austin), Prof. Cynthia Talbot (University of Texas, Austin), Prof. Dalpat Rajpurohit (University of Texas, Austin), Prof. Dipti Khera (New York University), Prof. Madhav Hada (Retd., MSU, Udaipur), Prof. Richard Williams (SOAS University of London) and Prof. Tanuja Kothiyal (Ambedkar University, Delhi). (Further confirmations from faculties are being awaited.) They will cover a wide range of themes, including history, literature, linguistics, ethnographic studies, art history, and architecture.
The Summer School will engage in rigorous philological and art-historical analyses of historical and classical texts, poetry, and folk narratives through close readings, fostering a critical understanding of their linguistic historicity and cultural contexts. The program will feature interactive sessions, specialized lectures, and field excursions, enabling participants to engage with primary sources such as old manuscripts, miniature paintings, architectural edifices, including forts and temples, and other historically significant sites. Through this interdisciplinary approach, the Summer School will cultivate a nuanced appreciation of the interrelations between textual traditions, visual culture, and material heritage.
